Checking your SASSA SRD R370 status online is the quickest way to find out if you have been approved, declined, or if your application is still being processed. The whole thing takes less than two minutes if the portal is working.

This guide walks you through each step. We also explain what to do if the website is down and what your result means.

What You Need Before You Start

Make sure you have these two things ready:

  • Your 13-digit South African ID number. This is the number on your green ID book or smart ID card.
  • The cellphone number you registered with. This is the number you used when you first applied for the SRD grant. It must match what SASSA has on file.
Lost your phone number or got a new SIM? You will not be able to check your status until you update your number with SASSA. Read our guide on how to change your SASSA phone number.

How to Check Your Status: Step by Step

Follow these four steps. The whole process takes about one to two minutes.

1

Open the official SASSA portal

Go to srd.sassa.gov.za in your browser. You can use your phone, tablet, or computer. Make sure the address bar shows srd.sassa.gov.za before entering anything.

2

Enter your ID number

Type your full 13-digit ID number into the first field. Double-check that you did not miss a digit or type one twice. A wrong number will give you someone else's result or an error.

3

Enter your phone number

Type the cellphone number you used when you applied. This must be the exact number on your SASSA profile. If you changed your number since applying, the system will not find your application.

4

Tap Submit

Press the Submit button. Your status will load within a few seconds. If the page takes longer than 30 seconds, the portal might be busy. Scroll down for tips on what to do when the site is slow.

What Your Result Means

After you submit, the portal will show your status. Here is what each result means and what you should do next.

What should I do with my result?

If the SASSA Website Is Not Loading

The SRD portal gets very busy, especially around payment dates. Millions of people try to check at the same time. Here are a few things you can try.

Clear your browser cache

Old saved data can cause the page to load incorrectly. On your phone browser, go to Settings, then find "Clear browsing data" or "Clear cache." After clearing, try loading the portal again.

Try off-peak hours

The portal is busiest between 08:00 and 17:00 on weekdays. Try checking after 19:00 in the evening or early in the morning before 07:00. Weekends are also usually quieter.

Use an alternative method

If the website stays down, you do not have to wait. Try one of these:

You can also check whether the portal is currently up or down on our system status page.

🔒
Always check the URL bar before entering your ID number. The address must show srd.sassa.gov.za. Any other address is a fake website trying to steal your personal information. If the URL looks different, close the page immediately. Report suspicious sites to SASSA or the police.

Other Ways to Check Your SASSA Status

The online portal is the fastest option, but it is not the only one. If you do not have data or the website is giving problems, pick one of these.
